Dad is now finally free

This is the 7th day of May. A week with lots of events, incidents and accidents. Labour day was held in Iran in memory of all those labours that are now in jail, by those who have not earned their salary for several months and are combating under hard living situation, buckling with daily inflation, in order to achieve their obvious rights.  A few days prior to it, on April 29th at the same time that the world was watching the Royal Wedding of this century and waiting for them to give their love “birth” in the “balcony” of the palace; a famous Iranian journalis, Siamak Pourzand, was welcoming “death” . He commited suicide … in his apartment in Tehran, on the 6th floor, jumping out of a window which one day used to be open to future dreams.

To me, it was not just loosing one of the most reputed iranian journalists … it was the affliction of loosing hope, loosing a father miles away from his family for years. Being prisoned for 10 years since he was 70 and finally, as his daughter Lily describes to her younger sister : “Dad is now finally free” .

Now, I am sitting in front of a window … which is opened to a neighbour buildings suraounded by lots of trees, in the “balcony” of second floor. Reading ” La Vie devant soi ” and thinking of 4 remained floors ahead.
