About Maryam

Maryam was born in 1986, Esfahan, Iran. During completing a bachelor in software engineering she started journalism in 2006 specializing in women, environmental and social issues. These activities in Non-Governmental Organizations lead in to being selected as Iran’s young Social and Environmental activist in 2008 in Element project sponsored by European Union and in partnership with MTV.

Studying in Iran, living in the United Arab Emirates and Australia she has focused her research in migration, women and entrepreneurship in the Middle East.

Her recent studies at the University of Wollongong have focused on the the experience of
female Emirati entrepreneurs and expatriates living in the UAE – for
which she’s currently completing primary research in country.

Previously studies completed at the European University Institute in Italy and Philosophy of art in Iran.

Traveling to different countries in  Europe, Oceania, US and the Middle East enhanced her knowledge of other cultures and better understanding and communication in this culturally diversified globe.

Maryam speaks fluent Persian, Arabic and English.
